How to Produce Moringa Tea

The tea made from the moringa oleifera leaves can be a good energy drink. It is filled with vitamins and antioxidants which makes the beverage a very refreshing one. It is quite easy to make moringa tea at home. All you need are a few dry leaves from the plant.

Why Is Moringa Tea Good?
Moringa tea is a refreshing and healthy beverage for many reasons. For starters, moringa tea is not actually tea. Tea leaves are actually produced by the camellia sinensis plants. On the other hand, moringa is a tisane or herbal tea rather than an actual tea. Another difference is that moringa does not contain any caffeine unlike proper tea.

It can increase your energy levels in a natural manner. Moringa can even be used for managing weight and give a boost to your immune system. How to Prepare Tea with Moringa Leaves
Moringa can be prepared for consumption in a variety of methods. Leaves and fruits of the plant can used in soups or vegetable dishes. However, the most common method of preparation is tea.

  • In order to prepare moringa tea, you need to harvest the leaves first. Pluck the leaves from the tree. It will be better if you choose the mature leaves as they can dry faster. A couple of stalks will be enough for making a cup or two of moringa tea. You may tear off more stalks for making more tea.
  • Dry the plucked leaves at room temperature. For this, the leaves need to be placed in a brown paper bag that has a few holes punched into it. Hang the bag in a cool area for a couple of weeks. The leaves should be dry enough to get separated from the stalks with the bare minimum of effort.

  • In order to use the leaves for making tea, you need to ground them into powder. You can tear off the leaves and shred them by hand. You may include the stalks if you want to increase the fiber content in the tea. A blender can work just as well to grind up leaves and stalks
  • You can easily store the moringa powder in tea bags or airtight containers. The powder should be stored in a cool and dry place to increase its longevity.

  • You can make moringa tea in the same way as normal tea with hot water. You can add sugar and lemons to enhance the taste.
  • Moringa tea can be prepared with a coffee maker as well. On an average, you will require a single teaspoon or less for one cup of moringa tea.
  • Iced moringa tea can be prepared in the normal fashion. You can add a bit of fresh ginger, honey and orange juice for enhancing the taste.

Moringa tea can be a better beverage than tea or coffee whenever you need a bit of refreshment.
